Frequently Asked Questions

Here you will find a list of some of the most commonly asked questions. If your question is not among them, just call me on either of my telephone numbers. Alternatively, contact me using the Contact Form, or email me directly to: owen@primetimediscos.co.uk.
How much do you charge?
We are very competitive for a professional service, but rates can vary according to several factors. Give me a call, and I will be happy to provide you with a tailor made quote based on your specific details (amount of hours, size of venue, etc).
I have received quotes from other DJs. Will you match or beat them?
In a word, no. There are many "cowboy", or amateur, DJs who do not operate to our professional standards.
As an experienced, professional DJ service, we are in a different league. We provide an excellent service (our many, many previous satisfied clients' words, not ours), use high grade, professional equipment, and have a superb reputation.
Prime Time Discos' charges are very reasonable for a PROFESSIONAL service, based on experience and reputation. Give us a call - you'll be surprised how reasonable our rates are for quality entertainment - but a night to remember from us will cost a little more than one you'd rather forget from a hobby DJ.
Do you charge extra for travelling to my venue?
All of our expenses will be included in the quote we give you at the time of your original enquiry. This includes travel costs and the London congestion charge (if applicable). The only additional charge we may need to make would be for parking, if no free parking is available at or next to your venue.
If I book you, how do I know you'll turn up or not cancel at short notice?
All bookings are guaranteed by a simple booking agreement, which we ask you to sign and return to us with your deposit. Once we receive this back from you, you can be safe in the knowledge that when we are booked, we ALWAYS turn up.
Prime Time Discos has been established for many years, performed at literally thousands of celebrations, and we have NEVER failed to fulfil a booking.
What music do you play?
We carry a massive music collection spanning over seven decades, and as experienced professionals we know our music very well. What music we play at YOUR party entirely depends on the range of ages of the guests present, and their tastes.
Do you accept requests?
Yes, definitely! We always want to find out exactly what songs you and your guests would like to hear. However, please understand that you have booked us for our professionalism and our ability to create an atmosphere that will get as many people dancing as possible. Therefore, if we were asked by one guest to play heavy rock, dubstep or gangsta rap at your Grandad's 80th birthday, we will politely refuse. Unless it was Grandad himself that asked us!
What equipment will you use?
I won't go into details of brands etc as most manufacturers of professional entertainment equipment do not make appliances for domestic use, so their names are not generally familiar to the public. However, please be assured that all of our equipment is of a professional grade, designed specifically for the rigours of being loaded and unloaded from cars and vans every weekend. It is regularly serviced and maintained to keep it in perfect working order. And it looks and sounds incredible.
We will set up an appropriate amount of high quality sound and lighting for the size of your venue. We won't set up too much as this would be overkill, and we won't set up something too small.
We don't use strobes or flashing lighting effects due to their ability to induce seizures in certain individuals. Our lighting units are modern, and create subtle multi-coloured sweeping, moving effects.
How far ahead do I need to book?
We receive a great many bookings up to a whole year in advance, several just a few months before, and some at short notice. One thing is certain: whether far ahead or just days in advance, we are booked EVERY SINGLE weekend of the year. At some point we will be booked for the day you are considering, so the earlier you book, the more chance we will be available for you. Just ring us and check!
Can I come and see you work somewhere?
Unfortunately this isn't possible. As almost all of our work is at private celebrations, it would not be appropriate for us to invite you along. It is also worth mentioning that no two parties are the same - the music you would hear us playing at one party may be different to what would work at your party. As professionals, I and the other DJs who carry out bookings on my behalf are extremely versatile and never fail to make a success of EVERY party, no matter what music works best!
